I posed this question on the community forums and they directed me here. I'm new to these forums but I have been playing Diablo 2 for quite some time on and off for a good many years. Recently I have come into possesion of a Last wish crystal sword from a recent free game and I can't quite figure out what the best use of an item like this would be. Right now I have it on my summoner necro because of its low damage and requirements. But I don't feel this can give me the best all around build for that type of character based on many other necromancer guides that recommend using a Act 2 might merc with a pride for concentration and holding a beast for maximizing the damage output of my skelentons. Is there any better use for this kind of weapon or should I try to trade it off for something more useful, would anyone really be interested in a weapon like this. I am even open to suggestions for unusal builds for different classes that would be able to utilize it best if its not best to be used on a summoner.
Thanks to anyone for their input!|||iron golem.|||It would be best on a smiter. Last wish has everything a smiter would need.|||Quote:
iron golem.
Too bad it's a crystal sword

How about for the hybrid kick assassin?
Edit
If you go with the kick assassin, 1 to the Dragon Talon will be enough + no durability issue!
Like Qwink & Tryzx suggested Smite paladin *I would go with the 1 point Smite paladin or for PvM Blessed Hammer paladin*|||Quote:

too bad it's a crystal sword|||If I had to put it on any summoner, I would hold it myself, switch out the Act 2 Might Town Guard and switch in the 'Edge' Rogue and laugh as I can Thorns and Might at the same time. Muahahaha....
And then I would switch around my items to get a better attack speed:
Highlord's Wrath, LoH: 14 FPA
And a few AR items. Then I could hit Baal with it at the end of my WsK run.
Or make a Blade Furysin. Or a Tankazon/SummonerZon. Or a Convertadin. Or a Skele+Magi summoner with an Act 3 Lightning Mage. Or a Zealbarb switch for boss battles....

It only requires that you use about 54 OIAS for a 6 frame Smite with a level 20 Fanaticism.
20 Highlord's Wrath
20 Laying of Hands
15 IAS jewel
= 55|||Crawling Dead Man - As MakeLoveNotDupe stated it is a crystal sword and unfortunately can not be used for the iron golem, although I was never too thrilled about losing the item once the golem has been destroyed which in my case would probably be way too often.
MakeLoveNotDupe - Your idea of a hybrid kick assasin is not a bad idea since it avoids the constant repair that would be needed as it is a crystal sword and could be quite costly and would not truely affect the damage output of the kicks much like a smiters damage output with their shield.
Tryzx - Going to the smiter option yes it would have the same damage output with either a crystal sword or a phase blade but you do lose that additional attack speed (which overall isnt a big deal because its easy to make that up to reach the 6 frame breakpoint) and the loss of durability issue.
MYK - Switching out the Might merc for an Act 1 merc seems like the most viable option if I can get my hands on another decent bow that provides and aura. As far as using edge goes I would probably not go with this option as Thorns can be provided by bramble armor as well as an iron golem which has thorns as its standard aura anyway. If going with an Act 1 merc the most likely scenario to beef up the skeles would be to use a faith bow for the lvl 15 fanacticism aura since I will be unable to hold beast if I am holding last wish. This still brings up the issue that I would be loosing an extra damage amount because the set ups would look something like this using an Act 1 merc vs an Act 2 merc.
Myself - Holding Lastwish for might.
Act 1 merc - Faith Bow, Bramble Armor, Helm (Unimportant since none have an aura that applies to all others)
Auras - Lvl 12-15 Fanac, Lvl 17 Might, Lvl 15-21 Thorns
Myself - Holding beast for Fanac.
Act 2 Might merc - Pride polearm, Bramble Armor, Helm (Same as act 1 merc)
Auras - Lvl 16-20 Conc, Lvl 15-21 Thorns, Lvl 9 Fanac, and Mercs Might Aura
