What do you guys think of this idea? Should I add any points in Golem Mastery or Iron Golem to help him stay alive? I mean, if he does die, Insight is very cheap so it's not the end of the world.
Just a thought.....|||An Insight Iron Golem works well. Boost Golem Mastery if you want it to have more life. Teleport will help keep it alive, but you'll probably want to have a stash of Insights ready to go.|||Quote:

Thanks, I will give it a shot. I already have some junk Insights stashed and the runes to make a few more if needed.|||Doesn't deserve it's own thread so:
Is it worth making a really low end insight? Like with a normal class polearm or elite one...? Since the Iron Golem isn't going to be damage focusing I guess it doesn't matter and the only thing you want is the aura right?|||I always make mine in just a plain voulge. Or any normal polearm really. I wouldn't waste elites, the golem is not meant to do damage, just to stay alive.
I personally use Insight golem because I use Faith on an A1 merc to give my army Fanat. It can be frustrating when he poofs for no reason from time to time, but as long as it isn't an expensive polearm you're losing it's not a big loss.
Bosses can end him quickly, so try to get a lot of + skills or a decent investment into Golem Mastery to keep him alive.|||Ok, I have a decent amount of +skills and +summons so an iron golem should be able to make it. Awesome. I never really thought about it before, but since I'm on ladder again insight aren't exactly hard to come by, especially if I'm just making them in normal polearms!

To give you an idea of what you can get for damage:
Iron Golem = 26-72 dmg (in hell, synergised with 20pts fire golem)
eth. cryptic axe = 66 - 300 dmg
insight = 260% ED
insight = 45% critical strike (~22% ED)
insight eth. cryptic axe = 267 - 1215 ED
total damage is 283 - 1287. Since IG attacks once per 2 seconds, you're looking at ~357 avg. damage per second. So from the point of the iron golem it's not worth getting an elite polearm imho.
I'd say make them in the first 4-socketed pole you find if it's for a golem. It's hard to find elite polearms. If on the other hand you're trying to get a good insight and just want to use the low ones for iron golems, you'd need to make it in a higher lvl polearm. Whichever you choose, it's getting the right polearm that's the problem, the runes are easy enough to find.|||Quote:

Ah thanks, that's useful to know

No conditionals. Just flat out the best.|||if you're not remotely in danger of dying then i'd wager that iron golem can be more helpful
