I started a fishymancer on ladder a qouple of weeks ago, the main reason for my fishy is to run WSK / Baal and other lvl 85 areas.
Over the past weeks i've had some lucky drops and made some nice trades, resulting in a bit of wealth in the stash and a not-to-crappy Enigma on my chest.
But i still run into trubbel almost every WSK run.
I would very much appreciate any hints or tips how to improve so i can run WSK and Baal more effectivly.
My stat, gear and skill setup are as follows:
at lvl 85
str: enough for gear
dex: None
vita: every single point not used in str
ene: obviously none
Ptopaz Shako
Mara 25
2xLem Alibaba+rhyme trollsnest
AoKL + Pdiamond homu (for summoning)
13ed mp Enigma
2 random +mf rings
goldwrap
38% chanceguards
42% Wartraveler
some xx 16 necro T in inventory.
With this setup i have 14 negative resists in hell with my mf gear (probably missed anya quest somewhere though)
Merc:
gulliums face
average non-eth levithan
non-eth cv Insight runeword
20 skellies
20 mastery
20 Mages
1 in all other summoning skill
20 corpse explosion
1 teeth
1 bone armor
1 amp
1 weaken
1 terror
1 decrep
with this build i get 11 skilllvl 36 skellies and 11 sklvl 35 mages.
As you can see ive taken bits and pieces from both the original fishy and Zarni'z version of the build and combined these with the skills that i like using.
I must say that i enjoy running with firegolem up almost constantly because of how the aura removes threat from me. you may also notice how i lack some curses in my build, (DV for instance). this is because i haven't really tried it enough to see a use of it. If ive made a terrible misstake not speccing for it, please tell

Now on to some questions/discussion

1) Where should i look to improve in my gear? what rings should i serch for? whispprojectors?
2) Besides from getting a better torch and a nice ress ani, do i need to up my resist? how much should i try to get?
3) Since im using my homu only for summoning purposes i didn't bother to get maxblock with my rhyme. should i respecc and pump my dex up anyway?
4) What golem should i use? Like i said before i enjoy the fire golem, but it seems like i dont share the general oppinion ?
5) Last but not least, the Merc. what to do, what to do. Is he fine? Should i dedicate a couple of weeks of running to afford an infinity? if i do i need a insight IG, do i need to get more points in golemmastery then?
hopefully you've had the patience just to read through the whole post :P and maybe have some answers and ideas for me

Thanks in advance

3.) I always run max block. Necros don't get a lot of hp for each point in Vitality so you don't miss out on as much hp as you would on other characters.
4.) Most people will say use Clay Golem. The slow is helpful. I actually use Blood Golem when running WSK for the free health regen and switch to Clay for Baal. Clay Golem + Decrepify make bosses a joke.
5.) If you are running in /player 1 games to mf, your merc should be killing things in a couple hits and a few Corpse Explosions should kill everything else. Infinity is great, but not necessary. My merc uses Infinity. I just drink mana pots as they drop.
Get at least 1 point in DV. It makes life a lot easier.|||1/2 ,Aim for these things in order of importance...... Resists/Skills/Life/Stats untill you have 75 all res then just focus on skills and stats.
3. If your not using homuncalus in main battle gear dont put any points in dex beyond what you need for your weapon.
4. Clay golem has slow and fire golem looks cool. Either is fine.
5. Find a elite pole and put insighting to it . Eth if possible and it will sort him for damage.|||You seem to have too much magic find compared to resistances. You don't mention the belt but I would use a Thundergod's Vigor for lightning res. Also, I would remove one magic find ring for a resist all ring (the other should be SOJ, but that is expensive) and use a Homunculus instead of Rhyme while magic finding (you get both resists and max blocking). Of course resist all small charms are very valuable if you can find any. I like Magefist better than Chance Guards personally.
Making MF runs faster and surviving more of them increases results better than having 300+ MF. IST IST Ali Baba, Enigma, PTopaz Shako, War Travs, and Gheed's Fortune should be enough MF to get you WAY past diminishing returns. Don't waste other spots on MF (rings, amulets, gloves, shields, belt, other charms).
The only bad stat allocation is using mages instead of the curses. Mages are useless, the skill points are better spent with 1 point in each curse because of how slow mages are to kill anything. The extra points can then be used in bone wall (to synergize bone armor) or in iron golem (you'll often have valueless but cheap metal items; eg. bonesnap or IK maul).|||Thankyou both for the tips.
Got myslef a Tgods, a 18/17wisp and a wizzy.
Respecced for DV and will try it out

Dropped fire golem and will try the blood golem out.
Also got my dex up to maxblock for both rhyme and homu.
should be a walk in the park by now

I can agree with you on the fact that they kill very slow campared to the skellies. but i like the extra meatshield

the debate about the summoner 4th skill will probably go on forever, but ill try the IG/bonearmor synergi ways out.
thanks

With a lvl 35 Skel Mage and Mastery, you are looking at about 300 points per attack from fire and lightning mages. So 11 mages would yield 3300 damage per volley - nothing to sneeze at, and certainly not worthless.
As far as curses are concerned, it comes down to how much +skill gear you have. I typically run with just a point in all curses, because I have about +8 to all skills, and I find level 9 in my curses adequate.
The easiest way to improve your resistances would be to move your pdiamond Homu to your main shield. You will get a big boost to your resistances, and the +25% mf is actually pretty small. The diminishing returns for mf really kicks in once you get to around 250%. So I generally shoot for somewhere in the range of 200%-300% - more is always more, but once you start approaching 300%, more isn't that much more.|||You have no crowd control.
I'm a big proponent of dim vision.|||Quote:

I'm a big proponent of dim vision.
That's really not nessisary for a summoner, save for souls with their piercing lightning going through your mobs.
He's already got a maxed out CE, which is all he'll really need in the end.|||gotta agree with Ghoulz, Dim vision is exactly like mages, Season to taste after your main ingredients of Skeles/Skelemastery and a dash of corpse explosion.
I'm a huge fan of mages even when im dirt poor because I love the extra Bone shields that hang back around my *** unlike my skeles which rush off to engage leaving me vulnerable to attack.
My MF gear recommendation
Shako S/ Ptopaz
Enigma
Ali Baba S/IST IST if possible
Homunculus S/ PD or UM I lean towards the UM to squeeze the most resists into the slot.
Chancies
Goldwrap
War Travellers
Rings and Amulets are prismatic first and formost as we already have WAY too much MF so we need to aim for +75 on MF gear.
