The most intriguing candidates are Beast, Last Wish, and Pride. However, there are many, many others, and I was wondering what others might think of as being the best item to use in creating an Iron Golem.
Also, I am willing to sacrifice/chance any item, regardless of how expensive/rare it may or may not be. I want the best of the best.
So, what are your thoughts?|||I'd say Pride. This way your merc can carry Infinity and yourself can use Beast. Last Wish is also an option, but then it's Might aura goes to waste. In this case, hire a Holy Freeze merc, but prepare to loose a lot of corpses...|||insight. cheap and you will never have to use a mana pot again

Iron golems die too fast for me though. Sometimes they just disappear for no reason.

If you are rich enough to use Beast, why not use Faith? Just as costly and you get a higher level of Fanat, plus if your Golem manages to kill anything they could reanimate which is even more skellies for you.
I'm going to try Harmony. My skellies are already pretty strong with Might and Conc. Vigor will make them uber fast!|||Quote:

You can't make iron golems out of bow's. It has to be a metal item. Where is the metal in a bow?

Arrowheads are metal, just like spear tips. If a wooden spear can be made into an IG then why not a bow?
Seriously, I just read that about items having to be metal, which I think is a real shame. My fallback is Exile (Defiance aura and Life Tap!) I can just sit back and watch the madness unfold.
Tomb Reaver is another choice because of the reanimate feature.
Edit ~ Hmmm...I was reading the Arreat Summit for clarification on the 'non-metal' IG restriction and it states that IG's cannot be made from throwing weapons. I have made an IG from a Demon Arch, which is a javelin. So, it is clear they have changed the rules. Hopefully, I can make my Harmony Golem now.|||Use the Minotaur ftw. Seriously. It's a unique axe. Good mods and a cool name.
I would also suggest the Kelpie Snare for super slowing. If the golem also gets the bonus life from kelpie snare, then it could seriously boost his hp when multiplied by golem mastery.

But, you aren't making an IG out of arrows. Arrows have no stats or mods, and arrows are seperate from bows in the game.|||So I did some experimenting. You can make IG out of throwing weapons like javelins and throwing knives/axes, but you can't make it out of bows or clubs. You also can't make it out of crystal swords, which really sux because I thought Azurewrath would make a nice IG for Uber runs.
Gimmershred has some good mods for IG. Exile is good if you want defense for your skellies, although Life Tap may negate your curses.|||eth LW would be nice
might aura, it would fade every so often (stacking with summon resist), huge crushing blow.
