merc

I never really used mercs because I think of them useless, since they die fast. I'm finished with NM and I think its time I used one. Can someone tell me how to make them not die and which 1 is best for bone necro ?|||I hear they have some mana problems, why not use an Insight one an Act 2 like pretty much every caster?|||Boners have serious mana problems. Im playing SP, and that is ladder-only runeword. I don't want to use RWM because I play with no mods. What other do I use ?|||I just wrote here:

If you want to keep your merc alive cast life tap |||You cant overrate mercs on a necro, mercs do more damage than the necromancer himself(CE aside) on all builds(except poison mancer perhaps). Mercs do way more damage than skellies, way more than bone spells, they just kick butt. All you need is a big monster weapon and some IAS items. Treachery is a good armor, not sure about weapons on a non-rwm char though, maybe the elite uniques or some stuff..
