Help Please, Killing too slow in hell.

So I pretty much breezed through Norm, and Nightmare wasn't much more difficult for me following Nightfish's guide for the summonancer. It's a new char for me, from scratch so all the gear I have is stuff I have found.

The issue is hell has been getting progressively slower and slower going for me the deeper I get into Act 1. I have RS/SM/CE Maxed, 1pt in all curse pre-reqs. I've followed the guide to a T. I make liberal use of my revives, CE, and Amp damage but the deeper I go, it seems less and less effective my skellies/amp dmg is. I am currently level 70 with 110 Str(with +10 bonus), 292 Vit (Bout 30 bonus here), base dex/energy. My resists currently sit at, -60, -20, -50, -60. I dont have much of any problem not dying, I just cant kill fast enough, I feel like I'm going super slow and I'm not sure why.

ANY help/advice would be greatly appreciated, I should also mention that I used up all my respecs since I messed around with the build/stats a bit. I am On USEast, Ladder.

My Equipment:

Spirit Sword +2 all skills

Rare Necro shield (+3 RS/+3SM)

Mageplate 4soc (Ptopaz'd)

3Soc Helm (Ptopaz'd)

Crafted Resist all ammy (+23 resist all)

Two random rings with +energy/mana (Best I could find yet)

Sigons Boots

Bloodfist Gloves

Tal Rashas belt (Probably the nicest thing i have aside from the spirit)

My Merc: A2 NM Might Merc, He has The Meat Scraper Lochaber Axe, which primarily has +10% life leech on hit, and his armor also gives him another 5% life leech + 18hp regen. I usually don't lose him unless we run into a particularly nasty Super-unique pack.

Stuff I have to trade (remember I JUST started less then two days ago, and I have NO idea what this stuff is worth, asking in chat seems to ilicit plenty of DURR n00b responses):

1x Lem

1x Io

1x Shael

1x Eth

2x Dol

2x Hel

2x Ith

+A handful of VERY common runes + A few P-gems.

Spire of Lazarus Gnarled Staff (Sorc Item)|||Your merc needs a better weapon. Better merc weapon = more corpses= more CE = more corpses and so on. Try to make an Insight or Obedience in an elite base. An upped Hone Sundan is also quite good.|||Quote:

Whats an Elite Base? Don't know what "upped" is either. I'm also hesitant to swap out my his weapon for something that doesn't have any life leech on it cause that pretty much keeps him up without me having to micro manage him at this point.|||We all sometimes tend to assume a person asking questions is playing bnet online, so keep that in mind. This stuff might not apply in single player.

Elite polearms are like Colossus Voulge, Great Poleaxe, Thresher, Giant Thresher. These are the Elite versions of that weapon class, and an Ethereal one made into a nice runeword like Crescent Moon, Insight, Obediance, Infinity, etc will make a nasty merc stick.

UP'ing is just a simple recipe in the cube to take a normal Unique item to exceptional, or an exceptional to Elite. Takes some runes/pgems to do the recipe, but on some items it is very worth it.|||You could run boss's in nm till better gear arrives or just be happy you can kill at all with such low gear in hell. The fact that you are lvl70 and able to tackle the game in hell is really only doable with the summonmancer.

Cheers!|||Actually, it's doable with any character, really.|||Quote:

I would suggest giving your merc an Insight runeword polearm and swapping out his helmet for something like Tal Rasha's Mask, which gives 10% life leech, along with some extra hp and resists. You should be able to find a 4 socket polearm and Tal's mask for a few pgems. (in fact, I have extras on my mules if you need)

Insight will help quite a bit because it gives your merc an aura that will regenerate your mana, which is good because Corpse Explosion uses quite a bit.|||As has already been suggested, raising your level slightly might also compensate a bit. As your level increases, your chance to hit (and that of your skeletons) increases. If your level is lower than that of the monsters in the act, your chance to hit isn't that impressive.

With my fishymancer, I entered hell at level 70 as well and going was relatively slow until level 72 or 73. After that, somehow it became substantially easier (without any change in gear).

I'd also swap out some of the MF stuff for +skills and whatnot, if you're questing through hell you don't have much need of MF. On the other hand, if you rerun areas to level and find gear to equip, I'd look for a balance between MF and killing speed.|||You don't have enough +skills.

Read this, there's a section on a very cheap way to vastly increase your speed.
